Important Notice Regarding SIU Union Offices

Please be advised that effective immediately the following protocols will be put in place for all SIU offices.

 

  1. Any member who needs to attend a Union office in person can make an appointment ahead of time by emailing a Union official. Members will be required to submit proof of vaccination at the time they make their appointment. Upon arrival at the hall, your QR code will be scanned as well as a temperature check and questionnaire. If you show up at the office without an appointment you will be refused entry.

 

  1. Meetings with Union Officials can be arranged via zoom or telephone at the Members convenience.

 

  1. Shipping will continue to be done as per the National Shipping Rules Weekend Shipping.

 

  1. Members are strongly urged to make sure the Union has a valid email on file as most union notices are sent via email. Members must sign on for the SIU2020 system as the SIU Canada will be switching to 100% virtual in the very near future. Assistance to gain access and register can be obtained by contacting your closest union hall.

 

Reminder about Dues

Also, a reminder that all Union dues should be paid electronically via eTransfer. All dues can be sent to dues@seafarers.ca. When sending your eTransfer, please include your: full name, SIU Membership number, and your SIU Reference number in the notes/comments section when sending your eTransfer. Please use your SIU reference number as your security password so that we can easily accept your payments without any issues. Your Reference number can be found on your SIU Membership card.
