Charles Etienne-Aubry grew up in the Montreal borough of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, close to the Port of Montreal where his passion for seafaring began. Charles began his career as a seafarer with the SIU of Canada in 2000 on board the N/T Thalassa Desgagnés. After sailing for 12 years, his passion for improving the lives of SIU Members led him back to land to take a job working for the Union. Charles’ created a reputation for himself as a tough negotiator, landing improved contracts for many SIU of Canada Members. This reputation and passion for the maritime industry allowed Charles to climb the ranks of the SIU Canada, eventually being elected Vice-President of the St. Lawrence and East Coast. In 2022, Charles was elected to serve as Executive Vice-President of the SIU of Canada. Charles is ready to tackle any challenge that lays ahead and is proud to serve the great members of the SIU of Canada.
