Patrice Caron announced his retirement from his position as Executive-Vice President of the SIU of Canada last week, opting to not seek re-election. Patrice Caron served the SIU of Canada and Canadian seafarers loyally throughout his long career. Patrice worked on a number of vessels as an SIU Member for 15 years before beginning his on-shore career with the Union.
Throughout his tenure with the SIU of Canada, Patrice was a key proponent of the SIU Canada’s recruitment efforts, helping to promote careers at sea to the next generation of seafarers. Patrice also held a number of positions within the International Transport Workers’ Federation, helping to shape the SIU of Canada’s position on the international stage.
The SIU of Canada thanks Patrice for his service, dedication, and loyalty throughout his years with the Union, and on behalf of all SIU of Canada Members, we wish Patrice a long and well-deserved retirement.
