SIU Canada is marking its 65th anniversary on June 7th, 2026. For 65 years, SIU Canada has fought to protect Canadian seafarers, strengthen our industry, and defend good jobs from coast to coast to coast. While our roots in Canada stretch back into the 1940s, June 7, 1961 marked the beginning of SIU Canada as an autonomous Canadian union dedicated to serving the country’s seafarers.
