SIU COVID-19 Update to Members – June 30, 2020

Brothers and Sisters,

After evaluating the impact that COVID-19 continues to have in our communities and across the country, we have decided that all SIU Union Halls will remain closed until at least July 15, at which time we will re-evaluate the impact of the pandemic in the communities in which our Halls are located.

SIU Union Halls on July 15 will begin having meetings with individual Members who need to have face-to-face meetings with our staff, however, these meetings will need to be arranged in advance, and upon entering the Hall, Members will need to follow strict guidelines and rules that we have set in place in our ‘Reopening Plan’. This includes mandatory use of face masks, hand sanitizer and other precautions to avoid the spread of germs. Members entering the Hall will also not be able to use the washroom, or any common area activities such as getting coffee. To schedule a meeting with an SIU official, please contact the appropriate Union Hall directly.

We will continue to provide updates to the SIU Membership through our social media channels, our website and through email and we appreciate your continued understanding during these difficult times. For the contact information for the SIU during the COVID-19 pandemic, please see our previous bulletin posted on our website here: SIU Contact Information During COVID-19.
